Why Asian Exporters and Service Providers Certify

In Asia-Pacific, most ISO certificates exist because an overseas customer asked for one. Garment buyers in Europe, software clients in the US, and food importers in the Gulf all expect accredited certificates from their suppliers. The certificate has to cover the factory, delivery centre, or warehouse that does their work.

Privacy law is also changing fast across the region, with new laws in Vietnam and Indonesia and stricter rules in Malaysia, Australia, and India. ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 give one system to manage them.

Accredify Global is accredited by UAF. Some government buyers in the region prefer their national accreditation body. We check the clause with you before you book.

What buyers ask for

Standards Asian Suppliers Are Asked For

BusinessStandards most often requested
Garment, textile, and footwear exportersISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Electronics and component makersISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
IT, BPO, and global capability centresISO 27001, ISO 20000-1, and ISO 27701
Food and agricultural exportersISO 22000 and HACCP
AI and analytics firmsISO 42001

Exporters often need to pass a buyer’s own social or factory audit as well. Those programs are run by their owners; an ISO certificate supports them but does not replace them. See our textile and IT guides for detail.

Common questions

FAQ: ISO Certification in Asia-Pacific

Why do overseas buyers ask for ISO certificates?

They give independent evidence that a supplier controls quality, safety, security or environmental impact, which buyers need for their own supply chain duties.

Is Accredify Global accredited?

Yes. Accredify Global is accredited by UAF for twelve standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001.

Does an ISO certificate replace a buyer’s factory audit?

No. Buyer social and factory audits are separate programs. An ISO certificate supports them with evidence of a working management system.

Can one certificate cover plants in several countries?

Yes, if they run one management system under the same organization. Audits sample sites each year.

Which standard helps with new Asian privacy laws?

ISO 27701 provides a privacy management system, and ISO 27001 covers the security safeguards most laws require.

How long does certification take?

Most organizations certify 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1, depending on readiness and the number of sites.
