What ISO Certification in Bangladesh Means for Exporters

ISO certification in Bangladesh is an accredited certification body's independent judgment that your management system meets an international standard and is used on the factory floor and in the office. Auditors check your records, speak with your workers and managers, and walk your production lines. A conforming system receives a three-year certificate, with surveillance every year.

Garments and textiles dominate demand. Global brands visit Bangladeshi factories often, and each visit tests the same basics: quality control, chemical and wastewater management, and worker safety. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 give those visits an audited foundation, so findings shrink over time.

Factory safety has its own independent regime. Since 1 June 2020 the RMG Sustainability Council has carried on the building, fire, and electrical safety inspections that began under the Accord. ISO 45001 does not replace those inspections, but it keeps the improvements running between them.

Banks, telecom operators, and software exporters face growing security questions. Bangladesh Bank expects banks to follow its ICT security guideline, and foreign clients of IT firms routinely ask for ISO 27001. A new personal data law, passed in 2026, adds privacy duties for everyone holding customer data.

Pharmaceutical and food exporters add a regulatory layer. Overseas regulators and importers look for documented quality and hygiene controls, and ISO 9001 or ISO 22000 gives them a familiar starting point before deeper GMP or market-specific checks.

Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope is listed in its public directory. If a buyer, tender, or regulator names a specific accreditation body, send us the wording and we will check it before you book.

Bangladeshi Rules in 2026 That Shape Certification Requests

Personal data now has a dedicated law. The Personal Data Protection Ordinance of November 2025 was replaced by a permanent Act passed in April 2026. A National Data Management Authority supervises it. Fines reach 50 lakh Taka for significant controllers, and large transfers of sensitive identifiers abroad are restricted.

Banks follow a detailed ICT security guideline. Bangladesh Bank issued version 4.0 of its Guideline on ICT Security for banks and financial institutions in June 2023. It covers governance, risk management, operations, and third-party controls, and banks extend its expectations to their technology vendors.

Garment factory safety is monitored independently. The RMG Sustainability Council was established on 1 June 2020 to continue the factory inspections begun by the Accord. Brands, manufacturers, and trade unions share its governance.

Standards Bangladeshi Buyers Ask For

Each brand or client writes its own checklist, but these standards appear in most of them.

SectorWhat the buyer worries aboutUsual standards
Garment and knitwear factoriesQuality, worker safety, and brand findingsISO 9001 and ISO 45001
Textile mills, dyeing, and washing unitsWastewater, chemicals, and energy useISO 14001 and ISO 50001
Pharmaceutical manufacturersExport market access and quality systemsISO 9001, with GMP readiness
Food, frozen fish, and agro processorsFood safety for export buyersISO 22000 and HACCP
Software exporters and IT-enabled servicesClient data security and service deliveryISO 27001 and ISO 20000-1
Banks, MFS providers, and insurersCyber risk and continuityISO 27001 and ISO 22301
Construction and power contractorsSite safety and handover qualityISO 9001 and ISO 45001

Social compliance programs such as BSCI, WRAP, or SA8000 are separate schemes. An ISO system supports them but does not replace them.

Composite factories gain most from an integrated audit. A group that spins, knits, dyes, and sews across several units in Gazipur and Narayanganj can run one system for quality, environment, and safety. One integrated audit then covers all three standards on each site, instead of three separate visits. Brands see the same evidence every year, and the factory spends fewer days hosting auditors during peak production. Software exporters in Dhaka follow a different path. Their clients abroad usually ask for ISO 27001 first, then ISO 20000-1 for service delivery, so the scope stays focused on the teams that serve those clients.

How ISO Supports Bangladeshi Requirements

Certification is not a licence. It is the system that keeps your controls in place between brand visits and regulator checks.

Where a client needs testing rather than certification, our VAPT services and cyber security risk assessment report against recognized frameworks. Pharmaceutical exporters can use our GMP readiness service, and our compliance services cover programs beyond ISO. Brands increasingly ask for energy and water data as well as safety records. An ISO 50001 or ISO 14001 system turns that data into tracked targets, which makes brand sustainability questionnaires much quicker to complete. Garment groups should also keep RSC remediation records close to hand during audits.

Common questions

FAQ: ISO Certification in Bangladesh

Answers on garments, the new data law, banks, cost, and timing.

How do I get ISO certification in Bangladesh?

Choose the standard your brand, client, or tender asks for, run the system until it produces records, then book an audit. An accredited body completes Stage 1 and Stage 2 and issues a three-year certificate if you conform.

How long does ISO certification take in Bangladesh?

Factories with a working system usually certify 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. Several units, standards, or a new system add time.

How much does ISO certification cost in Bangladesh?

There is no list price. The fee follows the audit man-days your scope needs, based on workforce, units, risk, and standards.

Is Accredify Global accredited?

Yes. UAF accredits Accredify Global for twelve standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, and ISO 22000.

Will global brands accept a UAF-accredited certificate?

Most brands accept accredited certificates from bodies in the international arrangement. If a brand names a particular accreditation body, show us the requirement first.

Does ISO 45001 replace RSC safety inspections?

No. RSC inspections are a separate program. ISO 45001 keeps safety routines and corrective actions working between inspections.

Does ISO 14001 help dyeing and washing units?

Yes. It manages compliance obligations, effluent monitoring, and chemical controls, which brands review closely.

Is ISO certification the same as BSCI or WRAP?

No. Those are social compliance schemes with their own audits. An ISO system supports them but does not replace them.

What is Bangladesh's new personal data law?

A Personal Data Protection Act was passed in April 2026, replacing the 2025 ordinance. A National Data Management Authority oversees it.

Does ISO 27701 help with the data protection law?

Yes. It adds privacy roles, records of processing, rights handling, and breach response to an ISO 27001 system.

Does ISO 27001 help banks follow the ICT security guideline?

Yes. Bangladesh Bank's guideline covers governance, risk, and controls that an ISO 27001 system manages and audits each year.

Can you audit units inside an EPZ?

Yes. Tell us early so zone access can be arranged before the audit dates.

Can parts of the audit be remote?

Document review and some interviews can be remote where the rules allow. Production floors are audited in person.

Which standard should a garment factory start with?

Most start with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, then add ISO 14001. Many certify all three in one integrated audit.

Will Accredify Global write our procedures?

No. A certification body must stay impartial, so we audit and certify only. Your team or an independent consultant builds the system.
