ISO Certification in Central African Republic: Audits for Mining, Timber, Telecoms, and Donor-Funded Projects
ISO certification in Central African Republic gives mining and timber operators, telecom companies, NGOs, and contractors on donor-funded projects audited evidence that their systems work. Accredify Global audits organizations in the CAR against ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37001, and the other standards in our scope. Each engagement, including site access, is confirmed during a free scoping review.
What an ISO Certificate Proves for Organizations in the CAR
An ISO certificate is independent proof that your management system meets an international standard and that staff actually follow it. An accredited certification body reviews your documents, interviews people, and visits the places where the work happens. In the Central African Republic that can mean a sawmill, a mining camp, a telecom network center, a warehouse in Bangui, or a road project. A conforming system receives a three-year certificate, with a surveillance audit every year.
The economy is small and depends on natural resources. Diamonds, gold, and timber are the main exports, and farming supports most households. Cotton and coffee are grown for sale, while cassava and other food crops feed local markets. Buyers of timber and minerals increasingly ask for documented controls on safety, environment, and integrity.
Development money shapes much of the formal economy. The World Bank, other lenders, UN agencies, and many NGOs fund roads, energy, water, health, and food programs. Contractors and suppliers on those projects must show that they manage quality, worker safety, and environmental risk. ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 give tender evaluators a common reference.
Integrity is a frequent concern for funders working in fragile settings. ISO 37001 sets out an anti-bribery management system with due diligence, gifts rules, financial controls, and reporting channels. It does not guarantee that bribery never happens. It shows that you have controls that are designed, run, and checked.
Telecoms and digital services are a growing part of the picture. Mobile operators carry most internet traffic, and a new data protection law now applies to personal data. ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 help operators, banks, and service providers protect networks and keep services running.
Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope appears in its directory. If a tender, lender, or buyer names a particular accreditation body or national body, send us the clause before you book. We will confirm whether our certificate fits.
CAR Rules in 2026 That Affect Certification Requests
A personal data law now exists. Law No. 24-001 on the protection of personal data was enacted in January 2024. It covers collection, use, and transfer of personal data, and it requires security measures and records of processing. Administrative fines can reach 5% of annual turnover, according to a published legal review.
The supervisory authority is still being set up. The law provides for an independent data protection authority. As of our last review, no authority had been publicly identified. Controllers must notify the authority of breaches, but published summaries cite no fixed deadline. We confirm the current position during scoping.
Telecoms have their own regulator. ARCEP Centrafrique regulates electronic communications and postal services. It was created by Law 17.020 of 17 May 2017. Electronic communications are governed by Law 18.002 of 17 January 2018. A 2023 digital rights report found no dedicated cybercrime law at that time.

Standards Requested in the Central African Republic
Requests usually come from a funder, a buyer, or a tender form. These are the combinations we see most.
| Sector | What the buyer worries about | Usual standards |
|---|---|---|
| Diamond and gold mining and trading | Worker safety, land and water impacts, and integrity of sales | ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 37001 |
| Logging companies and sawmills | Felling and sawmill safety, waste, and consistent grading | ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 |
| Contractors on donor-funded projects | Lender safeguards, quality of works, and site safety | ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 |
| NGOs and humanitarian suppliers | Procurement integrity and reliable delivery | ISO 37001 and ISO 9001 |
| Telecom operators and internet providers | Network security and service continuity | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 |
| Banks, microfinance, and mobile money | Customer data and system uptime | ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and ISO 22301 |
| Coffee, cotton, and food processors | Hygiene and product consistency | ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 |
Rough diamond exports are subject to Kimberley Process controls. An ISO certificate does not replace that scheme or any export permit.
A practical scope often follows the supply chain rather than a single building. A timber company might run a forest concession in the southwest, a sawmill near it, and a sales and logistics office in Bangui. One management system can cover all three, with the audit plan sampling each site over the cycle. Lenders and buyers then review one set of records instead of separate files for each location. The same approach works for a contractor with a head office in Bangui and several project sites upcountry.
How ISO Supports CAR Requirements
Certification is not a permit or a license. It is the management system that keeps controls working between lender, buyer, and regulator reviews.
| Rule or system | Who it reaches | How ISO supports it |
|---|---|---|
| Law No. 24-001 on personal data (2024) | Organizations that collect or process personal data | ISO 27701 sets privacy roles and records; ISO 27001 secures the data |
| Electronic communications law 18.002 (2018) | Operators and providers under ARCEP oversight | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 manage security and continuity |
| Lender environmental and social standards | Contractors on World Bank and other funded projects | ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 support safeguard reporting |
| Donor and NGO procurement rules | Suppliers bidding for funded contracts | ISO 9001 and ISO 37001 support supplier due diligence |
| National public procurement rules | Firms bidding for government contracts | We confirm current tender wording during scoping |
Projects financed by the World Bank apply its Environmental and Social Framework, which covers labor conditions, worker safety, and community health. ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 do not replace those plans, but they give contractors a working system to run them. Where a client wants technical testing, our VAPT services and cyber security risk assessment report against recognized frameworks. Payment providers can add PCI DSS readiness, and our compliance services cover wider privacy work.

FAQ: ISO Certification in the Central African Republic
Answers on mining, timber, donor projects, data protection, access, and timing.
How do I get ISO certification in the Central African Republic?
Pick the standard your funder, buyer, or tender requires, run the system until it produces records, then book the audit. Stage 1 and Stage 2 follow, and a conforming system gets a three-year certificate.
How long does certification take?
With a working system, most organizations certify 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. Remote sites and the rainy season can add time.
How much does ISO certification cost in the CAR?
There is no list price. The fee follows the audit man-days your scope needs, based on staff numbers, sites, risk, and standards.
Is Accredify Global accredited?
Yes. UAF accredits Accredify Global for twelve standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37001, and ISO 27001.
Does the CAR have a data protection law?
Yes. Law No. 24-001 on the protection of personal data was enacted in January 2024. Its supervisory authority was still being set up at our last review.
Is there a deadline for reporting data breaches?
The law requires controllers to notify the authority of breaches. Published summaries cite no fixed number of hours, so we confirm the current rule during scoping.
Does ISO 27701 help with Law 24-001?
Yes. It adds privacy roles, records of processing, rights handling, and breach response to an ISO 27001 system.
Does an ISO certificate replace Kimberley Process controls?
No. Kimberley Process controls and export permits are separate. ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 37001 can support how a mining or trading company runs its operations.
Do World Bank-funded contractors need ISO 45001?
Not always by name. The bank applies its own environmental and social standards. ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 give contractors a system to meet them, and some tenders score certificates.
Why would an NGO or supplier seek ISO 37001?
Funders want evidence of anti-bribery controls in procurement and payments. ISO 37001 shows those controls are designed, run, and audited.
Can you audit sites outside Bangui?
Often, yes. Access to mining, forest, and project sites depends on travel and security conditions, and each engagement is confirmed during scoping.
Can the audit be done in French?
French is the usual business language, and we plan audit language and translation needs during scoping. Records in French or Sango are discussed case by case.
Can parts of the audit be remote?
Document review and some interviews can be remote where the rules allow. Sites, camps, and plants are audited in person.
Can one certificate cover operations in the CAR and Cameroon?
Yes, if all sites run one management system under the same organization. Each site is listed on the certificate.
Will Accredify Global write our documents?
No. A certification body must stay impartial, so we audit and certify only. Your team or an independent consultant builds the system.
