ISO Certification in Chile: Accredited Audits for Mining Suppliers, Food Exporters, Banks, and Digital Services
ISO certification in Chile helps contractors qualify with copper and lithium producers, gives salmon and fruit exporters evidence for overseas buyers, and prepares banks and tech firms for new cyber and privacy laws. Accredify Global audits Chilean organizations against ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 22000, and the rest of our scope. The first step is a free scoping review.
What ISO Certification in Chile Tells Mine Owners and Importers
ISO certification in Chile is a finding by an accredited certification body that your management system meets an international standard and is used every day. Auditors examine records, question staff, and visit processing plants, workshops, offices, or mine faenas. A conforming system earns a certificate valid for three years. Annual surveillance audits keep it in force.
Copper sets the pace. The Antofagasta, Atacama, and Tarapacá regions host large open-pit mines, concentrators, and ports. Their owners buy maintenance, transport, explosives, catering, and engineering services from thousands of contractors. Contractor qualification often scores ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001, and some contracts make them mandatory.
Lithium from the Salar de Atacama adds a second mining chain with strict water and environmental scrutiny. Suppliers there face the same safety expectations as copper contractors, plus questions about brine, waste, and community commitments.
Food exports form the other pillar. Salmon farms and processing plants around Puerto Montt and in Aysén ship to the United States, Japan, and Brazil. Cherries, grapes, blueberries, and wine travel to China, Europe, and North America. Importers and retailers expect food safety evidence, and ISO 22000 gives packers and processors a recognized base.
Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope is listed in its directory. If a mining contract or tender names a particular accreditation body, send us the clause before booking. We will tell you whether our certificate meets it.
Chilean Rules in 2026 That Shape Certification Requests
A new privacy regime starts on 1 December 2026. Law 21,719 rewrites the 1999 privacy law, Law 19,628. It creates the Agency for the Protection of Personal Data as an autonomous regulator. Controllers must report security breaches to the Agency without undue delay. Fines reach 20,000 monthly tax units (UTM) for very serious breaches, and repeat offenses by large companies can cost 2% to 4% of annual revenue.
Cybersecurity now has a framework law. Law 21,663 was published in April 2024 and created the National Cybersecurity Agency, ANCI. Essential service providers must send an early alert to the national CSIRT within 3 hours of a significant incident. A fuller report follows within 72 hours, or 24 hours for operators of vital importance, and a final report within 15 days.
Compliance models matter more than before. The Economic Crimes Law, Law 21,595 of 2023, widened corporate criminal liability under Law 20,393. Companies can lower their exposure with a working crime prevention model. Law 21,719 also lets controllers adopt certified infringement-prevention models that include a data protection officer.

Standards Chilean Buyers Ask For
Mine owners, importers, and banks word their requests differently, but these standards recur.
| Sector | What the buyer worries about | Usual standards |
|---|---|---|
| Mining contractors in Antofagasta and Atacama | Fatality risk, fatigue, and environmental incidents | ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 |
| Lithium and brine suppliers | Water use, waste, and community trust | ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 |
| Salmon farms and processing plants | Food safety and export market access | ISO 22000 and HACCP |
| Fruit packers and wineries | Hygiene, traceability, and steady quality | ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 |
| Energy-intensive smelters and plants | Power cost and emissions | ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 |
| Banks, insurers, and fintechs | Cyber risk and service continuity | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 |
| Software, cloud, and data center firms | Customer data under Law 21,719 | ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 |
| Contractors bidding through ChileCompra | Integrity and delivery risk | ISO 37001 and ISO 9001 |
SERNAPESCA and SAG export certification are official controls. ISO 22000 supports them but does not replace them.
Mining contractors usually feel the pressure first. A maintenance or haulage firm may run a workshop in Antofagasta, crews at two faenas in the high Andes, and an office in Santiago. One integrated ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 system can cover all of them. The mine owner then reviews a single set of audited evidence. Safety managers also spend less time answering repeat questionnaires from each new client.
How ISO Supports Chilean Requirements
A certificate is not a permit. It is the system that keeps controls in place between mine owner, importer, and regulator reviews.
| Rule or system | Who it reaches | How ISO supports it |
|---|---|---|
| Law 21,719 on personal data | Every controller and processor from December 2026 | ISO 27701 runs privacy duties; ISO 27001 secures the data |
| Law 21,663, the Cybersecurity Framework Law | Essential services and operators of vital importance | ISO 27001 builds incident handling and security controls |
| CMF rules, including RAN Chapter 20-10 | Banks and other supervised financial firms | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 give audited evidence |
| Law 16,744 and Supreme Decree 44 | Every employer and its contractors | ISO 45001 organizes hazard and risk management |
| Sernageomin mining safety rules | Mine operators and contractors on site | ISO 45001 supports safe work and incident records |
| Law 20,393 as amended by Law 21,595 | Legal entities exposed to economic crimes | ISO 37001 strengthens the crime prevention model |
Some needs call for testing on top of certification. Our VAPT services and cyber security risk assessment report against recognized frameworks. Payment firms can add PCI DSS readiness, and our compliance services cover wider privacy work, including GDPR for exporters with European customers.

FAQ: ISO Certification in Chile
Answers on mining contracts, Law 21,719, Law 21,663, food exports, cost, and timing.
How do I get ISO certification in Chile?
Start with the standard your mine owner, importer, or tender asks for. Run the system until it produces records, then book the audit. When Stage 1 and Stage 2 confirm conformity, a three-year certificate is issued.
How long does ISO certification take in Chile?
With a working system, most companies certify 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. Remote faenas, several standards, or a new system add time.
How much does ISO certification cost in Chile?
There is no fixed price. The fee follows the audit man-days your scope needs, based on headcount, sites, risk, and standards.
Is Accredify Global accredited?
Yes. UAF accredits Accredify Global for twelve standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and ISO 22000.
What if a tender requires INN accreditation?
The INN is Chile's national standards body and runs its accreditation system. If a tender names it, share the exact wording before you book and we will confirm the fit.
When does Law 21,719 apply?
It takes effect on 1 December 2026. From then the new Agency for the Protection of Personal Data supervises controllers and can impose fines of up to 20,000 UTM.
Does ISO 27701 help with Law 21,719?
Yes. It adds privacy roles, processing records, rights handling, and breach response to an ISO 27001 system. Those are the controls the new law expects.
How fast must a cyber incident be reported under Law 21,663?
Essential service providers send an early alert to the national CSIRT within 3 hours. A second report follows within 72 hours, or 24 hours for operators of vital importance.
Do mining contractors in Chile need ISO 45001?
No law requires the certificate itself. Many mine owners still score or require ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 in contractor qualification.
Is ISO 22000 enough to export salmon or fruit?
No. SERNAPESCA and SAG controls are official requirements, and retailers may add their own schemes. ISO 22000 manages food safety behind them.
Can ISO 37001 support a Law 20,393 crime prevention model?
Yes. It structures risk assessment, due diligence, controls, and reporting. Courts and prosecutors still judge the model on its own merits.
Can you audit faenas at high altitude?
Yes. We agree medical clearance, induction, and access rules with the operator before the visit and add travel days to the plan.
Can parts of the audit be remote?
Document review and some interviews can be remote where the rules allow. Mine sites, farms, and plants are audited in person.
Can one certificate cover Chile and Peru?
Yes, if all sites follow one management system under the same organization. The certificate lists each site.
Will Accredify Global write our documents?
No. Certification bodies must stay impartial, so we audit and certify only. Your team or an independent consultant builds the system.
