ISO Certification in Indonesia: Accredited Audits for Mining Suppliers, Manufacturers, Exporters, and Fintechs
ISO certification in Indonesia helps smelter and mine contractors pass safety prequalification, keeps Java factories on global supplier lists, and gives fintechs and e-commerce firms audited security under the PDP Law. Accredify Global audits Indonesian organizations against ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, and other standards in our scope. We start with a free scoping review.
What ISO Certification in Indonesia Means for Your Contracts
ISO certification in Indonesia is an accredited certification body's written finding that your management system meets an international standard and runs in practice. Auditors examine records, interview supervisors and operators, and visit the plant, mine camp, warehouse, or office. Conforming organizations receive a certificate valid for three years. A surveillance audit each year keeps it in force.
Downstream mining has created new demand. Nickel processing parks in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, and Weda Bay, North Maluku, rely on hundreds of contractors for construction, haulage, maintenance, and catering. Coal producers in East and South Kalimantan run similar contractor chains. Owners screen those contractors on safety and environmental records, so ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 often decide who gets onto the bid list.
Java remains the manufacturing core. Automotive and component plants cluster in Karawang, Bekasi, and Cikarang, while garment and textile mills spread across West and Central Java. Export buyers in Japan, Europe, and the United States expect ISO 9001 and increasingly ask for environmental and safety evidence.
Batam adds an electronics and shipyard base close to Singapore. Plants there serve multinational parents that write ISO certification into their supplier agreements.
Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope can be checked in its directory. If a buyer, owner, or tender names a specific accreditation body, share the wording with us before booking and we will confirm the fit.
Jakarta is the digital and financial centre. Banks, fintech lenders, e-wallets, and e-commerce platforms there hold data on millions of customers. With the PDP Law now fully applicable, their partners and investors ask for ISO 27001 and clear privacy controls.
Indonesian Rules in 2026 That Shape Certification Requests
The PDP Law applies in full. Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection was enacted on 17 October 2022. Its two-year transition ended on 17 October 2024. Controllers must notify affected people and the supervisory authority within 3 x 24 hours of a data protection failure. Administrative fines reach 2% of annual revenue, and criminal fines for corporations can reach IDR 60 billion.
The regulator is still taking shape. The law provides for an independent PDP agency reporting to the President. As of August 2026 it had not been formally established, and the implementing government regulation was still awaiting signature. Komdigi, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, supervises in the meantime, while OJK oversees financial firms.
A data protection officer is often required. Controllers and processors must appoint one when they process data for public services, monitor people systematically at large scale, or process specific data such as health, biometric, or financial data at large scale. Meeting one condition is enough.

Standards Indonesian Buyers and Owners Ask For
Prequalification forms and buyer audits vary, but these combinations come up most.
| Sector | What the buyer worries about | Usual standards |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel smelter and mine contractors | Contractor safety and environmental control | ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 |
| Coal haulage and mining services in Kalimantan | Fleet safety and site discipline | ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 |
| Automotive and component plants in Karawang and Bekasi | Process control for export customers | ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 |
| Garment and textile mills in Java | Brand supplier codes and chemical use | ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 |
| Food, coffee, cocoa, and seafood exporters | Food safety for overseas importers | ISO 22000 and HACCP |
| Banks, fintech lenders, and e-wallets | Customer data and service resilience | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 |
| E-commerce, cloud, and software firms in Jakarta | PDP Law duties and client security reviews | ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 |
Halal certification under BPJPH and the national ISPO palm oil scheme are separate programs. ISO 22000 can run alongside them in one food safety system.
Mining contractors usually meet ISO through the owner's prequalification process. The smelter or mine operator asks for safety statistics, permits, and management system certificates before a company can even price the work. Once on site, the owner audits again. A certified ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 system gives the contractor ready answers and one way of working across camps on different islands. Fintechs and e-commerce firms follow a different path, usually starting with ISO 27001 because bank partners and OJK reviews ask about security first.
How ISO Supports Indonesian Requirements
A certificate is not a business licence or a permit. It is the system that keeps controls working between owner, buyer, and regulator reviews.
| Rule or system | Who it reaches | How ISO supports it |
|---|---|---|
| Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection | Controllers and processors handling Indonesian personal data | ISO 27701 runs privacy duties; ISO 27001 secures the data |
| Government Regulation No. 71 of 2019 | Electronic system operators | ISO 27001 supports security and system reliability duties |
| Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 (SMK3) | Employers with 100 or more workers or high hazards | ISO 45001 complements the national SMK3 system |
| OJK rules for financial services | Banks, insurers, and fintech lenders | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 support IT risk and continuity |
| Government procurement through LKPP | Firms bidding on national and regional tenders | Certificates strengthen technical scoring |
SMK3 audits are a separate national scheme. An ISO 45001 system and SMK3 can share procedures, but one certificate does not replace the other. For security testing, our VAPT services and cyber security risk assessment report against recognized frameworks. Payment firms can add PCI DSS readiness, and our compliance services cover wider privacy work. Palm oil, coffee, and seafood exporters should keep buyer-specific traceability and sustainability records current, because ISO systems manage those checks but do not replace them.

FAQ: ISO Certification in Indonesia
Answers on the PDP Law, SMK3, mining contractors, cost, and timing.
How do I get ISO certification in Indonesia?
Choose the standard your owner, buyer, or tender names, run the system until it produces records, and book an audit. An accredited body completes Stage 1 and Stage 2 and issues a three-year certificate if you conform.
How long does ISO certification take in Indonesia?
With a working system, most organizations certify 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. Remote sites, more standards, or a new system add time.
How much does ISO certification cost in Indonesia?
There is no fixed price. The fee follows the audit man-days your scope needs, driven by headcount, sites, risk, and standards.
Is Accredify Global accredited?
Yes. UAF accredits Accredify Global for twelve standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, and ISO 27001.
A tender asks for KAN accreditation. Can we still use you?
KAN is Indonesia's national accreditation committee. If a tender requires it by name, send us the clause before booking and we will tell you honestly whether our certificate fits.
Is ISO 9001 the same as SNI certification?
No. SNI marks are national product standards set by BSN, and some are mandatory. ISO 9001 certifies your management system, not a product.
Does ISO 45001 replace SMK3?
No. SMK3 under Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 is a separate national audit. The two systems can share procedures and records.
How fast must a data breach be reported under the PDP Law?
Within 3 x 24 hours, to the people affected and to the supervisory authority. Some breaches must also be announced publicly.
Who enforces the PDP Law today?
Komdigi supervises while the dedicated PDP agency is being set up. OJK oversees banks, insurers, and fintech firms.
Does ISO 27701 help with the PDP Law?
Yes. It adds privacy roles, records of processing, rights handling, and breach response to an ISO 27001 system.
Do nickel and coal contractors need ISO 45001?
The law does not require it, but many smelter and mine owners score it in contractor prequalification.
Can you audit sites in Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Java together?
Yes, if they run one management system under the same organization. Each site is listed, and audits sample them over the cycle.
Is halal certification part of ISO 22000?
No. Halal certification is a separate national scheme under BPJPH. ISO 22000 manages food safety and can run alongside it.
Can parts of the audit be remote?
Document review and some interviews can be remote where the rules allow. Plants, camps, and warehouses are audited in person.
Will Accredify Global write our documents?
No. Certification bodies must stay impartial, so we audit and certify only. Your team or an independent consultant builds the system.
