What ISO Certification in India Involves

ISO certification in India is an independent audit of your management system against an international standard. An accredited certification body checks that your processes meet the standard and work day to day. If they do, it issues a certificate valid for three years, with surveillance audits every year. The certificate names your legal entity, your sites, and the activities covered.

For Indian businesses, the certificate usually serves an overseas buyer. A client in the US or Europe sends a security questionnaire, a supplier code, or a quality agreement. The certificate answers much of it in one document. That is why scope matters: it must cover the delivery centre, plant, or warehouse that does the client's work. A certificate for a head office in Bengaluru does not automatically cover a delivery centre in Pune.

Accredify Global is accredited by UAF. Government buyers and PSUs sometimes ask for certification under NABCB, India's national accreditation body for certification bodies. We read the tender or supplier clause with you before you book, so the certificate fits the requirement.

ISO 27001 Certification in Bangalore for SaaS, GCCs, and IT Firms

ISO 27001 certification in Bangalore follows the same accredited process as anywhere else: Stage 1, Stage 2, a certification decision, then yearly surveillance. What differs is the client ask. Bangalore SaaS companies, global capability centres, and IT service firms are usually asked for ISO 27001 by US and European customers during security reviews.

Many Bangalore teams are cloud-first, with code, tickets, and evidence in online tools. That suits remote auditing. Stage 1 and much of the document and system review can usually run online. Offices in Whitefield, Electronic City, Outer Ring Road, or Manyata are visited when the audit plan needs to see physical controls or on-site work. We also check whether the certificate must cover a delivery centre in Hyderabad, Pune, or Chennai.

What Bangalore clients usually ask for

  • ISO 27001 certificate to the 2022 edition, with a clear scope
  • SOC 2 as well, for many US enterprise buyers
  • ISO 27701 for privacy, which also helps with the DPDP Act
  • ISO 42001 for AI products and model work

ISO certification in Bangalore beyond IT

  • Plants in Peenya, Bommasandra, and Jigani often need ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001
  • One combined audit covers all three in fewer days
  • Medical device makers can add ISO 13485
  • AS9100 for aerospace suppliers is delivered through our certification partner

Online and on site

Remote and On-Site ISO Audits in India

Accreditation rules, including IAF MD 4 on remote auditing, let certification bodies use video calls and screen sharing when the risk allows. Our audit plan states which parts run online and which need a visit.

Audit activityUsually remoteUsually on site
Scoping review and proposalYes, by video callNo
Stage 1 document reviewOften, for offices and cloud teamsWhen sites or risks need a look first
Cloud systems, access, and logsYes, through screen sharingRarely needed
Interviews with staffOften, where the rules allowOn delivery floors and shifts
Plants, warehouses, and labsNoYes, in person
Surveillance auditsOften, for low-risk officesWhen the sample or risk needs it

A certificate is never issued without an audit. Be wary of anyone selling an "online ISO certificate" with no audit at all.

Where things stand

Indian Rules in 2026 That Shape Your Certification

Data protection has a deadline. The Digital Personal Data Protection Rules were notified in November 2025 with an 18-month phase-in. Most obligations under the DPDP Act, including notices, consent, security safeguards, and breach reporting, apply from May 2027.

Cyber incident rules are already strict. CERT-In's 2022 directions require covered organizations to report specified cyber incidents within six hours and keep system logs for 180 days. For banks and NBFCs, the RBI's IT governance directions have applied since 1 April 2024.

Accreditation is under the spotlight. In February 2025, NABCB advised government bodies, regulators, PSUs, and companies to ask for NABCB-accredited certification in their procurement. ISO 9001:2026 was also published on 16 September 2026, with a transition deadline of 30 September 2029.

How ISO Standards Support Indian Regulations

A certificate never replaces a licence or a regulator's approval. It gives you a working system that makes the obligations easier to meet and prove.

Planning the audit

Planning an ISO Audit in India

Practical points that keep an Indian audit on schedule.

Before you book

  • The legal entity and every site in scope, by state
  • The client questionnaire or tender clause asking for the certificate
  • Shift patterns and headcount per site, including contract staff
  • Outsourced work, such as hosting, logistics, or job work

When planning dates

  • Plan around festival periods and plant shutdowns
  • 24x7 delivery centres may need a night-shift sample
  • Leave time between Stage 1 and Stage 2 for fixes
  • Client renewal dates often drive the deadline, so start early

Common questions

FAQ: ISO Certification in India and Bangalore

Answers on accreditation, remote audits, Bangalore, DPDP, CERT-In, cost, and timeline.

How do I get ISO certification in India?

Pick the standard your customers or tenders ask for, put the management system in place and run it, then book a certification audit. An accredited certification body runs Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits and, if requirements are met, issues a certificate valid for three years with yearly surveillance.

Who can issue ISO certification in India?

Only a certification body can issue it. Look for one accredited by NABCB or another IAF MLA signatory, such as UAF. ISO itself does not certify companies, and consultants cannot issue certificates.

Is Accredify Global accredited for ISO certification in India?

Accredify Global is accredited by UAF for twelve standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 and ISO 22000. Buyers can check the scope in the UAF directory.

Do Indian government and PSU tenders require NABCB accreditation?

Some do. NABCB, India's national accreditation body for certification bodies, has advised government buyers, regulators and PSUs to ask for NABCB-accredited certification. Send us the tender clause before booking so we can confirm whether our certificate fits.

How do I get ISO 27001 certification in Bangalore?

Define the scope, build and run your ISMS, then complete an internal audit and management review. Book an accredited certification body for Stage 1 and Stage 2. For many cloud-first Bangalore teams, much of the review can run remotely.

Do you offer ISO certification in Bangalore?

Yes. We certify Bangalore SaaS companies, GCCs, IT service firms and manufacturers. Our auditors work across many countries, and offices or plants are visited in person when the audit plan needs it.

Can ISO audits be done online in India?

Much of the audit can be, where accreditation rules allow. Scoping, document review, cloud system checks and some interviews often run by video call. Plants, warehouses, labs and delivery floors are normally visited in person.

Can I apply for ISO certification online in India?

Yes. You can request a quote online and hold the scoping review by video call. A real certificate still needs Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits, so avoid any offer of a certificate without an audit.

Is ISO certification the same as BIS certification?

No. BIS product certification under Quality Control Orders is a legal requirement for certain products. An ISO management system certificate does not replace it.

Which ISO standards do Indian IT companies and GCCs need?

Most start with ISO 27001 for client data security. Many add ISO 20000-1 for service management, ISO 27701 for privacy and ISO 42001 for AI work delivered to overseas clients.

Does ISO 27001 help with the DPDP Act?

Yes. The DPDP Act requires reasonable security safeguards, and ISO 27001 is a recognized way to show them. ISO 27701 adds privacy management on top.

When do the DPDP Rules fully apply?

The DPDP Rules were notified in November 2025 with an 18-month phase-in. Most obligations, including notices, consent, security safeguards and breach reporting, apply from May 2027.

What are the CERT-In incident reporting rules?

CERT-In's 2022 directions require covered organizations to report specified cyber incidents within six hours of noticing them and to keep system logs for 180 days.

Do banks and NBFCs need ISO 27001 for RBI rules?

The RBI's IT governance directions, effective 1 April 2024, do not require a certificate. ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 give a structured way to meet their governance, security and continuity expectations.

Can one certificate cover offices in several Indian states?

Yes, if the sites run one management system under the same organization. The certificate lists each site, such as a Bangalore head office and a Pune delivery centre, and the audit samples sites every year.

How long does ISO certification take in India?

Most Indian organizations with a running management system reach certification 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. A brand-new system, many sites or several standards add time.

How much does ISO certification cost in India?

It depends on audit man-days, which follow headcount including contract staff, the number of sites, process risk and the standards chosen. The free scoping review ends with a written proposal.

How much does ISO 27001 certification cost in Bangalore?

There is no fixed price. The fee follows audit man-days, set by headcount, sites, the systems in scope and how much can be audited remotely. You get a tailored proposal after a free scoping review.

Can ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 be audited together?

Yes. All three use the same high-level structure, so one combined audit covers them with fewer days than three separate audits.

Does Accredify Global write our ISO documents?

No. Certification bodies must stay independent, so we only audit and certify. Your own team or an independent consultant prepares the documents.
