What ISO Certification in Luxembourg Shows Supervisors and Clients

ISO certification in Luxembourg is an accredited certification body's independent finding that your management system meets an international standard and is followed in daily work. Auditors examine your records, interview your teams, and visit data centres, offices, warehouses, or plants. A conforming system earns a three-year certificate, kept valid by a surveillance audit each year.

The financial centre drives most demand. Luxembourg is the largest investment fund centre in Europe and the second largest in the world. Banks, management companies, and fund administrators rely on a dense chain of IT, cloud, and back-office providers. Those providers face detailed due diligence, and ISO 27001 is the certificate their clients recognize first.

Regulation sharpens that demand. DORA has applied to banks, investment firms, and fund managers since 17 January 2025. It requires them to manage the ICT risk of their third-party providers. A support PSF or software vendor with an audited security and continuity system answers those reviews far faster.

Logistics and industry form the second pillar. The multimodal platform at Bettembourg, air cargo at Findel, and distribution parks in Contern and Foetz serve shippers across the Greater Region. Steel, materials, and component plants in the south of the country supply European manufacturers who expect ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

The workforce is international. About 47% of people working in Luxembourg commute from France, Belgium, and Germany. Procedures, training, and audits often run in French, German, English, or Luxembourgish, and a management system must work in all of them.

Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope is listed in its directory. Luxembourg's national accreditation body is OLAS, part of ILNAS. If a tender, client, or supervisor names a specific accreditation body, share the wording before you book and we will confirm the fit.

Luxembourg Rules in 2026 That Shape Certification Requests

NIS2 is now in force. The law of 5 May 2026 on a high common level of cybersecurity transposed NIS2 and took effect on 10 May 2026. In-scope entities had to register with the ILR by 10 July 2026. Significant incidents need a first alert within 24 hours, a notification within 72 hours, and a final report within one month.

Supervision is shared. The ILR supervises most sectors, while the CSSF covers banking and financial market infrastructure. GOVCERT.LU and CIRCL act as CSIRTs. Fines reach €10 million or 2% of worldwide turnover for essential entities, and €7 million or 1.4% for important entities.

Financial ICT rules overlap. DORA has applied since 17 January 2025. Circular CSSF 25/883 of April 2025 amended Circular CSSF 22/806, so DORA entities follow DORA for ICT outsourcing. Non-DORA entities supervised by the CSSF still notify ICT outsourcing under the amended circular.

Data protection enforcement is serious. The GDPR applies alongside the law of 1 August 2018 that organizes the CNPD. Notifiable breaches go to the CNPD within 72 hours. In July 2021 the CNPD imposed a €746 million fine on an online retailer, which the Administrative Court upheld in March 2025.

Standards Luxembourg Buyers Ask For

PSF status is granted by the Minister of Finance under CSSF supervision. An ISO certificate supports the application but is never a substitute for it.

A support PSF or IT operator usually gains most from one integrated system. ISO 27001 covers access, encryption, supplier control, and incident handling. ISO 22301 adds tested recovery plans for the services banks and funds depend on. Audited together, the two standards answer most DORA and NIS2 questionnaires with one body of evidence. The same evidence helps when a client's internal auditor or the CSSF reviews the outsourcing file. Teams then spend less time filling in a different questionnaire for every bank they serve.

How ISO Supports Luxembourg Requirements

A certificate is not a licence or a supervisor's approval. It is the system that keeps your controls working between reviews.

Some Luxembourg requirements need testing or a separate scheme rather than an ISO certificate. Our VAPT services and cyber security risk assessment report against recognized frameworks, and our DORA readiness work maps ICT gaps for financial entities. Card and payment firms can add PCI DSS readiness. Firms serving US clients can add SOC 2 support, with reports signed by a licensed CPA partner firm. Electronic archiving providers seeking PSDC status certify against the national ILNAS 106 standard, which is a separate scheme.

Common questions

FAQ: ISO Certification in Luxembourg

Answers on NIS2, DORA, the CSSF, GDPR-CARPA, cost, and timing.

How do I get ISO certification in Luxembourg?

Choose the standard your client, tender, or supervisor points to, and run the system until it produces records. Then book Stage 1 and Stage 2 with an accredited body, which issues a three-year certificate if you conform.

How long does ISO certification take in Luxembourg?

With a working system, most organizations certify 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. Several entities, standards, or a new system add time.

How much does ISO certification cost in Luxembourg?

There is no list price. The fee follows the audit man-days your scope needs, driven by headcount, sites, risk, and standards.

Is Accredify Global accredited?

Yes. UAF accredits Accredify Global for twelve standards, including ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 27701, ISO 20000-1, and ISO 9001.

Will a tender that mentions OLAS accept a UAF certificate?

Many accept accredited certificates from bodies in the international arrangement. If a tender asks for OLAS accreditation specifically, send us the clause before you book.

Does the NIS2 law require ISO 27001?

No. The law of 5 May 2026 sets risk measures, registration, and incident reporting. ISO 27001 is a practical way to run and evidence them, but it is not a legal condition.

What was the ILR registration deadline?

In-scope entities had to register with the ILR by 10 July 2026. Missing it can be sanctioned, so late registrants should act now.

How fast must a significant incident be reported?

A first alert is due within 24 hours, a notification within 72 hours, and a final report within one month.

Does DORA make our ICT provider need ISO 27001?

DORA does not name ISO 27001. It does require financial entities to assess ICT providers, and a certificate makes that assessment faster.

Does ISO 27001 give us support PSF status?

No. PSF status is a licence granted by the Minister of Finance under CSSF supervision. ISO 27001 supports the application and ongoing controls.

Is ISO 27701 the same as GDPR-CARPA?

No. GDPR-CARPA is a CNPD-approved GDPR certification of specific processing operations, based on an assurance report. ISO 27701 certifies a privacy management system and makes CARPA easier to prepare.

Can the audit run in French or German?

Records can be in French, German, English, or Luxembourgish. Tell us the working languages early so we can plan the audit team.

Can one certificate cover Luxembourg and Greater Region sites?

Yes, if all sites run one management system under the same organization. Each site is listed on the certificate.

Can parts of the audit be remote?

Document review and some interviews can be remote where the rules allow. Data centres, warehouses, and plants are audited in person.

Will Accredify Global write our documents?

No. A certification body must stay impartial, so we audit and certify only. Your team or an independent consultant builds the system.
