ISO Certification in Israel: Accredited Audits for Tech, Cyber, Medtech, and Defense Suppliers
ISO certification in Israel gives startups and scale-ups the security evidence that US and European customers request, helps medtech makers meet device regulators, and supports suppliers in public and defense tenders. Accredify Global audits Israeli organizations against ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and the rest of our scope. Each engagement opens with a free scoping review.
What ISO Certification in Israel Tells Customers and Investors
ISO certification in Israel is independent proof, issued by an accredited certification body, that your management system meets an international standard and runs in daily practice. Our auditors sample records, interview engineers and managers, and walk through labs, plants, and offices. A conforming system receives a certificate valid for three years. Surveillance audits in years one and two keep it current.
Most Israeli demand starts with export sales. Software, cyber, and fintech companies in Tel Aviv, Herzliya Pituach, and Petah Tikva sell mostly to customers abroad. Enterprise buyers in the US and Europe send long security questionnaires before they sign. An ISO 27001 certificate answers many of those questions at once and shortens the procurement cycle.
Medical technology is a second strong driver. Device makers around Yokneam, Caesarea, and Jerusalem need ISO 13485 to sell into Europe, the US, and other markets. Israel's own Medical Devices Division at the Ministry of Health, known as AMAR, also expects a quality system behind every registered device.
Heavy industry and infrastructure complete the picture. Chemical plants around Haifa Bay, port operators in Haifa and Ashdod, desalination plants on the coast, and food producers across the country supply customers who expect ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Defense suppliers add strict quality and information security demands from prime contractors.
The Beersheba Advanced Technologies Park has grown into a cyber cluster beside Ben-Gurion University. Security vendors there sell to governments and banks that audit their suppliers closely. For these firms, ISO 27001 is often the first certificate, and ISO 42001 follows as they ship AI features.
Public buyers add another route. Government ministries and municipalities buy under the Mandatory Tenders Law, 5752-1992. Tender documents often ask bidders to show a quality or security certificate as a threshold condition. A certificate that names the same company number as your bid avoids disqualification on a technical point.
Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope appears in its public directory. If a tender, customer, or regulator names a particular accreditation body, send us the wording before you book and we will confirm the fit.
Israeli Rules in 2026 That Drive Certification Requests
Privacy law changed sharply in August 2025. The Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, was rewritten by Amendment 13. The Knesset approved it on 5 August 2024, and it took effect on 14 August 2025. The Privacy Protection Authority at the Ministry of Justice can now impose administrative fines directly and order processing to stop.
Some organizations must now appoint a privacy officer. Public bodies, data brokers, and bodies that process sensitive data or monitor people at large scale must name a privacy protection officer. The grace period for this duty ended on 31 October 2025. Database registration now applies mainly to data brokers and public bodies.
Security incidents carry their own deadline. The Data Security Regulations of 2017 set basic, medium, and high security levels for databases. Severe security incidents must be reported to the Authority immediately. In July 2026 the Authority issued its first administrative fine for a late incident report, of NIS 256,000.

Standards Israeli Customers Request Most
Every customer writes its own vendor form, but the same standards show up again and again.
| Sector | What the buyer worries about | Usual standards |
|---|---|---|
| SaaS, cyber, and fintech exporters | Enterprise security reviews in the US and Europe | ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 |
| AI and data platforms | Model risk, transparency, and customer trust | ISO 42001 with ISO 27001 |
| Medical device makers | Device quality for EU, US, and AMAR filings | ISO 13485 |
| Defense and aerospace suppliers | Prime contractor quality and data security | ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 |
| Chemical plants and ports around Haifa Bay | Emissions, spills, and worker safety | ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 |
| Food producers and agritech exporters | Hygiene and traceability for retail buyers | ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 |
| Banks, insurers, and payment firms | Cyber resilience and continuity | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 |
ISO 13485 supports device registration but is not the registration itself. AMAR, the EU, and the US FDA each keep their own filing rules.
Startups gain most when the scope matches the real company. A typical Israeli scale-up has an R&D center in Tel Aviv, sales staff in New York or London, and cloud hosting in Europe. One ISO 27001 scope can cover all of it, with the cloud provider handled as a supplier. Customers then get one certificate that names the legal entity they contract with, and the security team answers questionnaires once instead of every quarter. Device makers follow a different path, usually ISO 13485 first and ISO 27001 once their products connect to hospital networks.
How ISO Supports Israeli Requirements
A certificate does not replace a license or a regulator review. It keeps the controls running between those reviews.
| Rule or system | Who it reaches | How ISO supports it |
|---|---|---|
| Protection of Privacy Law and Amendment 13 | Organizations holding personal data | ISO 27701 organizes privacy duties; ISO 27001 secures the data |
| Data Security Regulations 2017 | Database owners at basic, medium, or high level | ISO 27001 risk, access, and incident controls give the evidence |
| Bank of Israel Directive 361 | Banks and their technology vendors | ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 support cyber and continuity duties |
| Medical Devices Division (AMAR) rules | Makers and importers of medical devices | ISO 13485 shows the quality system behind each device |
| Mandatory Tenders Law, 5752-1992 | Firms bidding for public contracts | Certificates strengthen the threshold and quality scoring |
Some customers want testing on top of certification. Our VAPT services and cyber security risk assessment report against recognized frameworks. Payment firms can add PCI DSS readiness. Exporters serving European users can use our GDPR work, and US healthcare customers often ask for SOC 2, which a licensed CPA partner firm signs. Banks and their vendors should also follow guidance from the Israel National Cyber Directorate, because ISO 27001 manages those controls but does not certify against them.

FAQ: ISO Certification in Israel
Answers on Amendment 13, cyber, medtech, cost, and timing.
How do I get ISO certification in Israel?
Pick the standard your customer, tender, or regulator names. Run the system long enough to produce records, then book the audit. An accredited body completes Stage 1 and Stage 2 and issues a three-year certificate if you conform.
How long does ISO 27001 take for an Israeli startup?
With policies in use and an internal audit done, most startups certify 6 to 10 weeks after Stage 1. A new system needs a few months of records first.
How much does ISO certification cost in Israel?
There is no list price. The fee follows the audit man-days your scope needs, based on headcount, sites, risk, and the number of standards.
Is Accredify Global accredited?
Yes. UAF accredits Accredify Global for twelve standards, including ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and ISO 42001.
What did Amendment 13 change for Israeli companies?
It took effect on 14 August 2025. It widened key definitions, gave the Privacy Protection Authority power to fine directly, and required some organizations to appoint a privacy protection officer.
Do we need a privacy protection officer under Amendment 13?
Public bodies, data brokers, and organizations that monitor people or process sensitive data at large scale must appoint one. The grace period ended on 31 October 2025.
How fast must a severe security incident be reported in Israel?
Under the Data Security Regulations, severe incidents go to the Privacy Protection Authority immediately. The Authority no longer treats 72 hours as an accepted window.
Does ISO 27001 help with the Data Security Regulations?
Yes. Its risk assessment, access control, logging, and incident steps produce much of the evidence the regulations expect at each security level.
Does ISO 27701 help with Amendment 13?
Yes. It adds privacy roles, processing records, rights handling, and breach response to an ISO 27001 system, which supports the new accountability duties.
Does Israel's EU adequacy status remove the need for ISO 27701?
No. Adequacy lets EU personal data flow to Israel. European customers still ask how you protect that data, and ISO 27701 shows it.
Do Israeli medical device makers need ISO 13485?
Most do. EU and other regulators expect it, and it supports filings with AMAR at the Ministry of Health. It does not replace device registration.
Will a tender that cites the Standards Institution of Israel accept our certificate?
Some tenders name a specific body. Send us the clause before you book and we will confirm whether a UAF-accredited certificate fits.
Can audits run around the autumn holidays?
Yes. We avoid Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, and we plan Passover weeks with you in advance.
Can parts of the audit be remote?
Document review and some interviews can be remote where the rules allow. Labs, plants, and data centers are audited in person.
Will Accredify Global write our ISO documents?
No. A certification body must stay impartial, so we audit and certify only. Your team or an independent consultant builds the system.
