ISO 45001:2018, the 2024 Amendment, and the Revision Now Underway
ISO 45001:2018 is the edition you certify to today. In February 2024 ISO published Amendment 1 (climate action changes). It asks organizations to decide whether climate change is relevant to their OH&S management system, and to recognize that interested parties can have climate-related requirements. It applies to every ISO 45001 certificate and is checked at your next audit.
A full revision of ISO 45001 is in progress. Its Draft International Standard (DIS) ballot ran from 17 June to 9 August 2026, and the revised standard is expected to be published in 2027. Draft content isn't a requirement until it's published — and a transition period will follow publication — so there's no reason to delay certifying now. We'll plan any future transition into your existing audit cycle.
