What ISO Certification in Egypt Proves to Buyers and Clients

ISO certification in Egypt is an accredited certification body's independent finding that your management system meets an international standard and is used in daily work. Our auditors check documents and records, talk to staff on each shift, and visit factories, packing stations, hotels, and offices. A conforming system earns a three-year certificate. A surveillance audit each year keeps it valid.

Food and farm exports create steady demand. Citrus, grapes, potatoes, onions, and frozen vegetables leave Egyptian farms and packing stations for Europe, the Gulf, and Asia. Importers expect a food safety system they can audit on paper. ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 give them that base, next to the retail schemes some of them also require.

Manufacturing is spread across new industrial cities. Plants in 10th of Ramadan City, 6th of October City, Sadat City, and Borg El Arab near Alexandria make building materials, chemicals, home appliances, and packaging. Garment makers in the Qualifying Industrial Zones and the textile mills of El Mahalla El Kubra sell to brands that audit their suppliers every season.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone adds ports, logistics, and heavy industry at Ain Sokhna and East Port Said. Foreign investors building there often want their Egyptian subsidiary to hold the same ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certificates as the parent group.

Cairo is also a services exporter. IT outsourcing, software, and contact-center firms around Smart Village, New Cairo, and the New Administrative Capital serve clients in Europe, the Gulf, and the US. Those clients ask for ISO 27001 during vendor onboarding, and the new data protection rules raise the bar further.

Tourism on the Red Sea and along the Nile adds another group. Hotels and resorts in Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, Marsa Alam, Luxor, and Aswan serve tour operators who check food hygiene and guest safety. ISO 22000 and ISO 45001 give hotel groups one way to show those controls across every property.

Accredify Global is accredited by UAF, and our scope is listed in its public directory. If a buyer, tender, or regulator names a particular accreditation body, send us the wording before you book and we will confirm the fit.

Where things stand

Egyptian Rules in 2026 That Shape Certification Requests

The data protection law now has teeth. Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 waited five years for its Executive Regulations. They were issued as Decree No. 816 of 2025 and published on 1 November 2025. Organizations have a one-year grace period, which ends on 1 November 2026. The Personal Data Protection Center supervises and enforces the law.

Breaches, officers, and licenses come with set duties. Controllers and processors must report a breach to the Center within 72 hours, and at once where national security is involved. Affected people must be told within three working days of that report. Controllers and processors must appoint a data protection officer registered with the Center. Licenses are needed for processing, with fees tied to record volume and an exemption up to 100,000 records.

Cybercrime and banking laws add sector duties. Law No. 175 of 2018 on combating cyber and information technology crimes requires service providers to keep system logs for 180 days. Banking Law No. 194 of 2020 places strict secrecy duties on customer data held by banks. Fines under the data protection law reach EGP 5 million for some offenses.

Standards Egyptian Buyers Ask For Most

Buyer forms and tender files differ, yet the same short list of standards keeps coming up.

SectorWhat the buyer worries aboutUsual standards
Citrus, vegetable, and frozen food exportersFood safety, residues, and traceabilityISO 22000, ISO 9001, and HACCP
Garment and textile makersBrand supplier audits and consistent qualityISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
IT outsourcing, software, and contact centersClient data and service deliveryISO 27001, ISO 27701, and ISO 20000-1
Factories in the industrial citiesQuality, energy use, and emissionsISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001
Oil, gas, and petrochemical suppliersContractor safety on live sitesISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
Hotels and resorts on the Red SeaFood hygiene and guest safetyISO 22000 and ISO 45001
Banks, payment firms, and fintechsCyber risk and continuityISO 27001 and ISO 22301

Retail farm schemes and brand codes of conduct are separate programs. ISO 22000 and ISO 45001 support them but do not replace them.

Exporters gain most when one system follows the product from field to port. A citrus exporter may run farms in Nubaria, a packing station near the Cairo to Alexandria desert road, and shipping through Alexandria or Damietta. One food safety and quality system can cover the whole chain, with audits sampling farms each year. Buyers then see one set of evidence, and the team stops rebuilding files before every inspection at the start of the season. Outsourcers follow a different route, usually ISO 27001 first because foreign clients ask for it before go-live.

How ISO Supports Egyptian Requirements

A certificate is not a license or permit. It is the system that keeps your controls working between regulator and buyer reviews.

Rule or systemWho it reachesHow ISO supports it
Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020Anyone collecting or processing personal data in EgyptISO 27701 sets privacy roles; ISO 27001 protects the records
Executive Regulations, Decree No. 816 of 2025Entities needing PDPC licenses and a DPOISO 27701 records support licensing and officer reports
Law No. 175 of 2018 on cybercrimeService providers and digital platformsISO 27001 manages logging, access, and incidents
Banking Law No. 194 of 2020Banks and their technology vendorsISO 27001 and ISO 22301 support secrecy and continuity
Law No. 182 of 2018 on public contractsSuppliers to ministries, authorities, and state companiesCertificates add weight in the technical envelope

Banks and outsourcers often want proof beyond a certificate. Penetration tests through our VAPT services and a cyber security risk assessment show how controls hold up under attack. Card processors in Cairo can prepare with PCI DSS readiness. Call centers handling European callers can use our GDPR work, listed with our other compliance services. Food exporters should also keep National Food Safety Authority approvals and buyer residue tests current, since a food safety certificate tracks those approvals without standing in for them.

What ISO Certification Costs in Egypt

Pricing is built from audit man-days. Your written proposal breaks them down by site and by standard. Plants running one shared system are sampled across the cycle instead of each one being visited yearly.

What adds days

  • Several factories or farms in different governorates
  • Large shift-based or seasonal workforces
  • High-risk chemical or construction work
  • Standards audited separately

What saves days

  • ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 combined in one audit
  • The same procedures used in every governorate
  • Twelve weeks of records before Stage 1
  • A finished internal audit and management review

Common questions

FAQ: ISO Certification in Egypt

Answers on exports, Law 151, outsourcing, cost, and timing.

How do I get ISO certification in Egypt?

Start with the standard your importer, client, or tender file names. Use the system for a few months so it creates real records. Then an accredited body runs a two-stage audit and, if you conform, issues a certificate valid for three years.

How long does ISO certification take in Egypt?

Firms that already run their system usually receive the certificate 6 to 12 weeks after Stage 1. Extra plants, extra standards, or a system built from scratch take longer.

How much does ISO certification cost in Egypt?

We do not publish a price list. Each quote is built from audit man-days, which depend on staff numbers, sites, risk level, and how many standards you combine.

Is Accredify Global accredited?

Yes. Our accreditation comes from UAF and covers twelve standards. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 are among them.

When do the Data Protection Law rules start to bite?

The Executive Regulations were published on 1 November 2025 with a one-year grace period. Law firms put the compliance deadline at 1 November 2026.

How fast must a data breach be reported in Egypt?

Within 72 hours to the Personal Data Protection Center, and at once where national security is affected. Affected people must be told within three working days of that report.

Does every Egyptian company need a data protection officer?

The Executive Regulations require controllers and processors to appoint a DPO and register that person with the Center. Check your own position with a lawyer.

Does ISO 27701 help with Law No. 151 of 2020?

Yes. It adds privacy roles, processing records, rights handling, and breach response to an ISO 27001 system. That evidence supports licensing and officer reports.

Do IT outsourcers in Egypt need ISO 27001?

It is not a legal duty, but most foreign clients ask for it during vendor onboarding. Many outsourcers add ISO 27701 for clients that send personal data.

Will a tender that names the Egyptian Accreditation Council accept our certificate?

Some tenders name EGAC or a specific body. Send us the clause before you book and we will confirm whether a UAF-accredited certificate fits.

Is ISO 22000 the same as registration with the National Food Safety Authority?

No. NFSA licensing and export controls are legal steps. ISO 22000 is a voluntary food safety system that supports them.

Can you audit factories in 10th of Ramadan City or Ain Sokhna?

Yes. Tell us early so we can plan travel, site passes, and safety inductions.

Can the audit take place during Ramadan?

Yes. We shorten audit days to match reduced hours and avoid the Eid holidays, so the plan may add a day.

Can parts of the audit be remote?

Where accreditation rules permit, we review documents and hold some interviews online. Auditors still visit factories, farms, and hotels in person.

Will Accredify Global write our ISO documents?

No. Impartiality rules stop a certification body from consulting. Your own staff or an outside consultant prepares the system, and we audit it.
